On a given year more than 70% of students in the district come from households that fall below the income guidelines for free and reduced lunch. Meaning of the 1700 students districtwide, far more than the 220 we currently serve may need the little extra help that The Backpack Program can provide. While we have many great contributors to the Backpack Program, we still need your help to meet the need in our community. When you make a fully tax deductible donation to the Baker City Backpack Program you should know that 100% of your donation goes to food for our students. There is no paid staff, there is no overhead for offices or storage or meeting space. This is truly a community venture to help our most vulnerable group.
While you consider a financial contribution, here are a few figures to know.
